It is with great regret that we announce the planned phased closure of the St Helens College 14-16 Academy by the summer of 2020.

It is important to make clear at this stage that the St Helens College 14-16 Academy will remain fully operational for our Year 10 and Year 11 students, however, we will not be accepting any new students for Year 10 September 2019 intake.

Please be assured that this was not a decision that was made lightly. Sadly, this closure announcement follows what is now becoming a national trend, whereby over 66 schools like the St Helens College 14-16 Academy, have closed since 2010, mainly due to a lack of interest for this type of provision. This is also true in the case of the St Helens 14-16 Academy, in that we have never achieved sufficient demand to make this provision financially viable in its own right.

If your son or daughter is currently in Year 10 or Year 11, we want to assure you that we are completely committed to continuing to deliver the very best high-quality teaching and learning experience at the St Helens College 14-16 Academy, and it will continue to be business as usual until the planned closure in 2020.

We apologise for any immediate concerns this information may cause, but wish to reaffirm our total dedication to ensuring the future wellbeing and best possible achievement outcomes for every student at the St Helens College 14-16 Academy.

If your son or daughter has applied to study at St Helens College 14-16 Academy this September, please see our list of ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ which will provide further information on what steps you may need to take to ensure continuity for their KS4 education for September 2019 and beyond.
