At St Helens College we are committed to enabling all our students to participate fully in both the academic and social life of the College. If you need support, in the form of a communicator, or help with adapting programme materials, into large print for example, or help with mobility and access, please contact one of our learner support co-ordinators, directly or through Student Services. Support available includes the following:
Visual Impairment
We can adapt materials into large print or Braille. Screen reader software and screen magnification software are available and you can also access a sighted guide/note taker.
Deaf/Deafened or Hard of Hearing
Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing learners can access a range of support to suit their individual needs. Support available includes a communication support worker for learners who prefer to communicate using sign language and a lip speaker for learners who prefer to communicate through lip-reading and speech. Also provided are note-takers and the provision of specialist equipment
Dyslexia
We offer access to specialist assessment and one-to-one dyslexia support appropriate to your needs.
Physical Disability/Aspects of Personal Care
Staff are available to assist you with any aspect of personal care and can provide advice and guidance on the use of equipment available within the College.
Disabled Students Allowance
We can help you to apply for the Disabled Students Allowance where appropriate.
Mobility and Access
We can provide assistance to hep you around the College.
