This course is suitable for newly appointed team leaders, supervisors, first line managers or those aspiring to secure one of these positions in the near future. This qualification will reinforce your existing knowledge and build on your current work experience.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course will commence in January, April and September. Taking one year to complete you will attend the college for three hours a week.

What will I study?

Based at the Town Centre Campus you will be taught by industry professionals and you will explore the key concepts and elements of first line management. The following seven modules will be covered:

  • Developing yourself as a First Line Manager
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Resource planning
  • Meeting stakeholder needs
  • Developing individuals and teams
  • Improving team performance
  • Managing information and communication

How is it assessed?

You will complete a written assignment at the end of each module studied.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

Ideally you must have already achieved a level 2 qualification but your previous experience will also be considered when applying for this course.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to register as a Student Member with the Chartered Management Institute, the leading professional association for managers and supervisors in Europe. Your CMI qualifications will be recognised by employers nationally.
