Free Functional Skills - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 English
These are nationally recognised qualifications designed to meet the needs of the world of work. They are particularly suitable for those people in employment wishing to move on or up, and for those looking for employment. This qualification provides young people and adults with the practical skills they need to succeed in further learning, employment and the wider society.
You can start on these courses throughout the year. Levels 1 and 2 require commitment for at least two terms.
What will I learn?
These courses follow the national curriculum for adults and are divided into levels from Entry Level up to Levels 1 and 2.
Level 1 and 2
Students will cover a range of skill - reading, writing and speaking and listening.
Students will cover a range of skills within three units -
- Reading and Understanding
- Speaking and Listening
What are the entry requirements?
The programme is open to anyone over the age of 16 years and is particularly suitable for adults returning to work, education or training.
There are no formal entry requirements but you will attend an initial induction which will include an initial assessment and an informal chat that will provide guidance to place you on the correct course.
How will I be assessed?
Level 1 and 2
Students will take an examination that is externally set and marked.
Students will take examinations that are teacher marked and externally moderated.
Progression through to GCSE English is possible.
