Short Course in Jewellery Making

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

During this introductory jewellery course, you will have the opportunity to make your own bespoke jewellery and accessories using semi-precious metals. Designed for both beginners and those with some experience of jewellery making, the course covers a range of techniques.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has start dates throughout the year and will take 10 weeks to complete.

Take a look at our online shop to see when the next course is starting and book and pay online.

The course takes at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

During this course, you will learn the art of silversmithing using a variety of techniques, tools and equipment, whilst making items such as rings, pendants, brooches, ear rings, chains etc.

Students with some previous experience of jewellery making will be able to make functional or sculptural objects of their choice working with the tutor to enhance the design making and decorating process.

Due to the dramatic rise in the cost of precious metals students will be expected to order their own silver. Very small quantities can be purchased and delivered, dependent on your designs and budget. The tutor will advise on these details at the start of the course.

All students will be able to take their final pieces home with them.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

There are no formal entry requirements. As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

What are the course fees?

The total cost of the course is £130.
