    St Helens College offers dedicated computer suites and industry standard software to enhance the learning experience and provide a platform for graduates to enter into the computer games industry and related creative industries.  The current BA (Hons) Game Art programme is aimed at creatives who want an arts orientated games career.  The BA Game Art programme at its core is industry focused with the aim to imbed a high level of skill and knowledge in the use of tools, technologies and processes needed for the production of ‘Next-gen’ games titles. The programme also aims to create creative thinkers who are able to innovate at the fore front of this discipline.

     

    The North West is an important centre for the game development industry and St Helens College has important links with local industry.  The programme team have developed excellent relations with some of the leading North West companies in the computer games industry including Sony (formally Psygnosis) in Liverpool, Evolution Studios in Runcorn, TT Fusion in Wilmslow, Travellers Tales in Knutsford and Rebellion in Liverpool.

    The Music Department at St Helens College provides students with programmes to develop their creative and technical skills within the field of music technology.  The programme features modules exploring music sequencing, live sound engineering and audio production.

     

    The music department is located within the new campus redevelopment at the Town Centre Campus and offers two recording studios (Cubase and Pro Tools 8 HD), a recording area, two PC labs with appropriate music technology applications (Cubase 5, Wavelab 5, Pro Tools LE 8, Reason etc).  There is also a Mac suite available running Logic 8 Express.  The Music Department lecturers provide a quality learning experience underpinned by their experiences in the field of music technology with many continuing to practice within the field.
