Cultural Studies/Humanities Higher Education Courses at St Helens College

Cultural Studies has been emerging in recent years as one of the hottest new disciplines, providing an arena where the humanities, social sciences, arts and media meet and cross-fertilise.  The subject is lively, exciting, cutting edge and constantly developing.  Whilst many other degree programmes in Cultural Studies focus almost exclusively on media and popular culture, the degree programme at St Helens College takes a broader view of culture.  Our degree programme is wide-ranging but coherent, and combines breadth with proper academic depth.

The Culture, Mind and Modernity programme at St Helens College offers an innovative, interdisciplinary academic education in Cultural Studies.  Students engage with contemporary issues in culture and society, develop critical awareness and research skills, and have the opportunity to gain experience in the use of media technologies.
