Business and Management
Award in Accounting – AAT Access
AAT Access will give you a new set of skills and understanding of finance and accountancy. After achieving the AAT Access you'll have the option to progress to Level 2 of the AAT Accounting qualification.
Text Processing
The Text Processing suite of qualifications has been designed to develop and recognise candidates’ abilities to produce a variety of current and straightforward business documents to meet the requirements of the employer in a modern business environment. They are available at level 1,2 and 3.

This programme is for adult learners interested in obtaining the skills required for employment within a Business Administration environment. It is ideal if you are looking to retrain and change career path or update existing qualifications you have.
Subsidiary Diploma in Business
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Business provides students with the knowledge, skills and understanding of the modern business world. The course includes a variety of units including Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing and Business Communications. The qualification also provides career development opportunities for those learners already in employment and allows progression onto Higher Education and professional development programmes.
Diploma in First Line Management
This course is ideal for newly appointed Team Leaders, Supervisors or First Line Managers, or those aspiring to such a position in the near future; or those wishing to obtain a formal qualification to reinforce and demonstrate their existing experience. You could progress onto further specialist management programmes or choose to progress to Higher Education.
Purchasing and Supply (CIPS Level 3, 4, 5, 6)

Computing and Information Technology
ITQ Level 1
The ITQ Level 1 course is suitable for individuals with a basic knowledge of using a computer with the aim of using those skills to improve employment prospects and to use IT in daily activities. The course covers a range of subjects including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Email and Using the Internet. The course will be delivered over 2 sessions per week and various times are available. The cost of the course is £376 (approx) but you may be entitled to fee remission depending on your circumstances.
ITQ Level 2
This course is ideal for individuals who have completed the ITQ Level 1 or ECDL course, or who are currently working and using IT to a good standard. The course covers Word Processing, Presentations, Spreadsheets and Databases and is ideal for students looking to develop their skills further. The course will be delivered over 2 sessions per week and various times are available. The cost of the course is £463 (approx) but you may be entitled to fee remission depending on your circumstances.
PC Maintenance
This course is suitable for 19+ learners who are interested in PC Maintenance. The course covers a variety of topics including how to assemble/disassemble computer hardware units, maintain hardware and software and resolving problems and errors. This is a five week evening course and you will attend 3 hours per week (6pm – 9pm). The course starts on Monday 5th March (places are still available). The cost of the course is £68 (this includes the OCR awarding body fee). If you are in receipt of benefits you may be entitled to fee remission.

Land-based Studies - Floristry, Horticulture and Conservation
Diploma in Practical Horticulture
This Level 1 course has been designed to provide individuals with the basic knowledge and skills in horticulture and is suitable for those unemployed looking to develop new skills in the area or for retired people. It is the ideal course that allows you to get your hands dirty without having to undertake exams or written assignments. You will cover four core units: Prepare grounds for seeding or planting; Plant container grown subjects; Apply organic mulch to a bed or border; Water a bed, border or area of plants in containers, using hand-held equipment.
Workbased Horticulture levels 1, 2 & 3
If you have a keen interest in horticulture and would like to work in areas such as landscaping, parks and gardens, sports turf or horticultural garden centres, then the Workbased Horticulture courses are perfect for you. French Taster
If you are planning to visit France this year for business or pleasure, why not learn the basics of the language. This taster course will provide you with some of the basic elements of the French language. The course is a free 3 week taster and will run on Thursdays, 1pm – 4pm. The course will start in April.
Spanish Taster
This course is a free 3 week taster in Spanish and aims to provide learners with a basic understanding of the language. You will learn essential phrases and basics ideal for those travelling to Spain for business or pleasure this summer. This course is available on a Thursday (day class or evening class). The daytime class in 1pm – 4pm or you can study on the evening class, 6pm – 9pm. The course will start in April.
German Taster
Are you planning a trip to Germany this summer and would like to learn basic German language? This free 3 week taster session will provide you with essential phrases to help you during your stay. The German Taster session will start in April.

St Helens College is providing people aged between 16–18 with the opportunity to do a work placement in the community in a subject area that interests you. The Weeks Programme is designed to provide you with the chance to carry out work experience and you will have a key worker who will support you throughout your placement.

These courses will run for 4 weeks and you will attend College for 3 days per week (15 hours). The courses include accredited units from nationally recognised qualifications in the chosen sector. There are also accredited units included to help you with your job search and develop your interview skills.
*These courses are free to the unemployed in receipt of benefit (Incapacity benefit is excluded).

Level 3 Nutrition for Activity
This Level 3 course starts week commencing 16th April and you will study for 3 hours per week. It is a full cost course for adults and the fee is £200. The course is funded for 16-18 year olds.
Level 1 Practicing Leadership Skills with Others
The Practicing Leadership Skills with Others is a Level 1 course and will start week commencing 16th April. It is a four day programme aimed at individuals aged 19+ and is funded.
Level 2 Fitness Instructor (Gym or ETM)
This programme is starting now and is ideal for anyone with an interest in becoming a Fitness Instructor. The cost of the course is £478 plus £50 exam fee.
Level 2 Award in Leading Health Related Activity Sessions
This course is ideal for those interested in leading fitness activity sessions. The cost of the course will be £216 plus £25 exam fee.
Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Sessions
This course is ideal for those with an Instructor qualification who are interested in adding a circuits qualification. The cost of the course will be £129 plus £30 exam fee.
