With a Modern Apprenticeship

Do you want to gain valuable work experience, study a recognised qualification and get paid to learn?
Work Based Learning can give you the chance to earn, learn and work within a wide range of industrial work placements, helping you to take the first step onto a rewarding career as an Apprentice.

Today's employers often require both qualifications and work experience and look for suitable candidates with a wide range of skills. The Apprenticeship Scheme gives you the opportunity to train within an industry of your choice and study part-time at St Helens College. You will not only benefit from acquiring a new qualification but you will also walk away with valuable work experience.

What are the benefits?
The Apprenticeship qualification NVQ, Key Skills, Technical Certificate, plus other qualifications required by the national frame work and are open to those aged between 16 and 24 year.

The Apprenticeship leads to an NVQ Level 2 specific Key Skills and a Technical Certificate that is equivalent to five GCSE passes. Successful completion will prepare you to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship.

The Advanced Apprenticeship shows that you are highly competent in your chosen area and leads to NVQ level 3, Key Skills at a higher level plus a higher level Technical Certificate and is equivalent to two A Level passes.

With an Advanced Apprenticeship you can progress onto Higher Education training programmes with some Universities accepting these as entry qualifications.

Whilst on the programme as an Apprentice you will receive up to £30 a week training allowance each week plus where applicable you will be paid travel expenses. You will also receive protective clothing or an allowance towards a uniform if it is required. If you are employed by a company you will receive a wage and not a training allowance.
