Description
This programme is for you if you have a real desire to succeed in the animal industry, especially if you wish to progress onto a supervisory or management role, or to acquire the academic knowledge and understanding of animal science, behaviour and husbandry in order to progress onto higher education.
What will I learn?
Year One
Animal Biology, Animal health, Animal anatomy and physiology, Animal handling, Animal welfare and breed development, behaviour and communication, Animal feeding and Manage animal accommodation, Exotic animal health and husbandry, Principles of zoological animal health and husbandry
Year Two
Nutrition, breeding and genetics, Undertake an investigate project, wildlife populations, ecology and conservation, wildlife management and rehabilitation, Undertake work experience , chemistry for biological and medical sciences, principles of inheritance and genetic manipulation, Biochemistry and microbiology.
What are the entry requirements?
You need a minimum of five GCSEs at A* - C grades, including English, maths and science. Alternatively you should have a level 2 qualification in animal care or other related vocational area, achieving Distinction overall.
How will I be assessed?
All assessments are assignment based and each unit is graded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
