We are extremely proud to be recognised by the Department for Education League Tables as the best General Further Education College within the Merseyside region for average point score in Applied General and Tech Level subjects for 16-18 year olds.

Applied General qualifications provide broad study of a vocational area and are designed to lead to higher education. They include vocational areas such as performing arts, business and health and social care. Tech Levels are qualifications for students wishing to develop specialist skills and knowledge for a technical occupation or industry. They lead to recognised occupations, for example in engineering, IT, accounting or professional cookery.

The ‘average point score’ measures highlight the outstanding achievements that our students have made in their Applied General and Tech Level qualifications with the average awarded grade being 'Distinction', the equivalent to a grade A at A Level.

This comes as an additional celebration after the College recently achieved a 98.2% overall A level pass rate with 81% of students progressing directly to university and 14% going on to apprenticeships and employment. Several students have also achieved triple Distinction star grades (D*D*D*) in their vocational courses and an overall 100% pass rate for BTEC Extended Diplomas, giving them the same UCAS tariff points as those achieving A* grades at A level, and securing their places at first choice universities.

Our Principal, Jette Burford, said, "We are exceptionally proud with the success of our students and their unrelenting commitment and hard work to achieve the very best in their studies. This is the result of the continued emphasis that we place on raising academic standards in the classroom and also the dedication of our staff to building futures for all of our students.”
