Picture of nursery staffStaff and parents at St Helens College’s Nursery are revelling in the success of an “Outstanding” Ofsted report following inspection at the end of March.

The recently published report highlights how the Nursery achieved Outstanding in all four areas of inspection with excellent feedback.

The Nursery, based at the Town Centre Campus, provides purpose built provision for students who attend courses at the College and need childcare assistance. The nursery welcomes up to 64 children during term-time who are supported by 15 members of staff, all with early years qualifications at level 3 and above.

The Nursery provides full day-care for those aged from birth up to 5 years and boasts some fantastic facilities. They also support children with disabilities and educational needs as well as those who speak English as a second language.

Susan Hopper, Ofsted inspector said, “The staff team is well qualified and highly experienced. They demonstrate a strong commitment to providing the highest standard of care and learning. Staff use their extensive knowledge of how children learn and develop to plan an exciting range of activities and experiences that children thoroughly enjoy.”
“All children consistently make high rates of progress in relation to their starting points. Children of all ages and abilities gain the confidence and skills they need for the next stage in their learning, including starting school. They are highly motivated, enthusiastic and enjoy their learning.”

Brian Dean, Deputy Principal commended the report “The College prides itself on the support that is made available to our students; this Outstanding childcare provision enhances this package further. Nicola, our Nursery Manager and her team have worked tirelessly to establish a strong, secure environment for our students’ children to learn, develop and grow.”
