Picture of our students, with Y3 students from St AidensOver the last four months, Year 3 pupils from St Aiden’s Primary School in Billinge have received interactive coaching sessions from our very own students, by participating in a wide range of sports such as football, rugby, basketball, tennis and hockey.

These coaching sessions form part of our level 2 Activity Leadership (Sports Coaching) students' coursework, enabling them to develop coaching techniques, an awareness of health, safety and safeguarding children and the experience of planning, conducting and evaluating a series of sessions for children with mixed ability levels.

Chris Kirkham, Curriculum Leader for Sport, Exercise, Health and Fitness, commented, “We have successfully run this project with St Aiden’s Primary School for a number of years now, and not only has it helped our own students build up their confidence and sport coaching skills but it has also helped to foster the employability and organisational skills they will need to either achieve their career goal or progress onto our level 3 course. It has also provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to support the school in promoting the importance of physical activity amongst their pupils.”
