Staff and students were wowed by an immersive performance from our Level 3 Music Production and Performance students, who took to the stage at our Town Centre Campus’ Main Reception, with impressive visuals, DJ sets and set designs.

The performances, which part of their collaborative music project, included DJ sets from talented students, Sean Williams and 3ric McK3nna, and student band, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, who were joined by Music tutor, Ant, on bass guitar.

The students worked together as a group to design the performance from beginning to end, organising equipment, performers, staging and visual effects, with student taking up positions behind the mixing desk, making sure the performance ran smoothly and had a consistent sound quality throughout.

Music tutor, Ant, commented:

“The students have worked very hard in creating this performance, on stage and behind the scenes. We started with a small idea and every week they added more bits to this idea and took it somewhere else entirely in the end. Each student played to their strengths and ended up in a role that they were suited to and really enjoyed. It was good to be able to put what we do as department front and centre in the college reception and we were all pleased with the response we got from the audience. I am tremendously proud of what they achieved working together!”

The performance was also attended by St Helens Council’s Head of Music Service, Dr Jeremy Sleith, who said:

“I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the music performances at St Helens College last week. It is encouraging to see talented young students with great potential, who will become the next generation of music professionals. I look forward to working with the College on some exciting future projects, which will provide great work experiences and opportunities for students.”

Performances like these are a great way for our music students to gain valuable experience as performers and producers, growing their confidence both on and off stage.
