Our science department are excited to receive an impressive donation of specialist equipment from local waste management and water treatment company, United Utilities, who have kindly donated 10 chlorometers to the department.

This specialised equipment will expand the testing our students can do in our laboratories, allowing them to measure the amount of chlorine in water samples.

United Utilities are one of the College’s valued industry partners, supporting the education and progression of our students in many ways; from donating equipment, providing apprenticeship opportunities, and employing former students in full-time roles.

Science Tutor, Tracey, told us: “A big thank you to United Utilities for their donation. This equipment will be a fantastic addition to classroom learning, allowing our students to get hands-on with equipment they will use in a real working environment.

Using chlorometers is a much more sophisticated way to measure chlorine levels, making the process much simpler for our students when they analyse their samples.”

Have the chance to work with this specialist equipment yourself! If you’re interested in studying on one of our science courses, you can find out more here.
