This course has various start dates throughout the year. You will attend one evening per week and the course will take 8 weeks to complete.
This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.
The course will include an introduction to many hand building techniques including pinch-pots, coiling and slab building and will also take you through the making, glazing and firing processes. Work could include making bowl forms, vases and jugs as well as sculptural forms or garden pots.
Students will be directed to design and build certain objects, using a preferred technique during the sessions, but can adapt the object into more personal styles.
Those students with some experience, will be able to make functional or sculptural objects of their choice working with the tutor to enhance making and decorative ideas.
All students will be able to take final pieces home with them after the glaze firing.
There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.
