Introduction to Jewellery Making

During this short jewellery course, you will have the opportunity to make your own bespoke jewellery and accessories using semi-precious metals.

This course has various start dates throughout the year. You will attend one evening per week and the course will take 8 weeks to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

During this course, you will learn the art of silversmithing using a variety of techniques, tools, and equipment, whilst making items such as rings, pendants, brooches, earrings, chains, etc.

Students with some previous experience of jewellery making will be able to make functional or sculptural objects of their choice, working with the tutor to enhance the design making and decorating process.

All students will be able to take their final pieces home with them.

There is no formal assessment. You will be given feedback based on your progress with suggestions and guidance for areas for improvement.

As with all our leisure courses the main emphasis is to come along and enjoy the course!

There are no formal entry requirements. All you need is commitment and enthusiasm.

You may be eligible for funding if you have not recently participated in a similar programme, or received any other recent government funded training.

There are a number of fee options for this course including:

  • If you are unemployed – FREE
  • If you are employed – £30
  • If you are not eligible for funding – £180
You may wish to progress on to an accredited qualification in a creative arts subject which will allow you to practice your skills in the industry.
