Writing for wellbeing is a unique creative writing short course, which can be adapted to suit students’ interests. The course will explore poetry, short stories, memoirs and monologues, amongst various other fascinating forms of writing as well as support and advice on publication for those interested.

There will also be the opportunity for participants to be part of a published anthology at the end of the academic year.

Whether you have already delved into the world of writing or are completely new to this and looking for a place to start, this course is the perfect choice!

This course has various dates throughout the year and takes 4 weeks to complete. You will attend college on a Friday.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

You will study the following topics:

  • Poetry
  • Short stories
  • Memoirs
  • Free writing
  • Monologues

You don’t need any formal qualifications to start this course.

This course is free to study providing you do not hold a grade 4 or above at GCSE English level.

After completing this course, you can continue to develop your writing skills and be part of the writing and publishing community.

You may also choose to progress on to GCSE English or Functional Skills English to gain a recognised qualification whilst improving your skills and knowledge.
