Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments

This exciting course is specifically designed to prepare you for a successful career as an employed and/or self-employed Beauty Therapist.

Based in our busy commercial salon, you will delve into the science behind beauty therapy treatments by exploring anatomy, physiology and electrical science.

You will also provide a diverse range of treatments to paying clients from skin and body analysis to face and body electrical treatments and Swedish massage.

Our Connecting Classroom to Career ambassador, Niyomi, completed this course and progressed to University of Warwick, studying an Aesthetic Therapy qualification and Business Management (Top-up) degree. She is now a fully qualified Aesthetic Therapist!

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Client care and consultation
  • Body analysis
  • Skin analysis
  • Swedish massage therapy
  • Body electrical treatments
  • Facial electrical treatments
  • Electrical science
  • Mechanical massage
  • Anatomy and physiology for the face and body systems

You will also have the opportunity to participate in additional training workshops with Dermalogica, for example, the Pro Power Peel training and Acne, Allergies and Ageing workshop, to enable you to develop a deep knowledge and understanding of a variety of skin conditions.

We also have exciting industry guest speakers to offer support with recruitment and progression.

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed by practical observations carried out within a realistic working environment, portfolio evidence, external examinations and a graded synoptic assessment at the end of the course.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully achieved a level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification or equivalent.

What are the course fees?

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to one of the following courses to enhance your skills and knowledge within another specialist area:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies
  • Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology
  • Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Makeup
  • Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management

Alternatively, you may wish to travel the world working on cruise ships, build your clientele in a local salon or spa, embrace the rewards of retail sales or even grow your own business.

Additional Information

As part of this programme, you are required to wear a uniform (tunic), which will be worn with black trousers or a skirt and a full black shoe. Our recommended uniform supplier is Florence Roby. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from our recommended supplier, Dennis Williams. More information will be provided during the application process and you may be eligible for a bursary to cover these costs.
