Level 1 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

This course is perfect for helping you to improve your ability across a range of IT applications and will help you to learn new computer skills and gain a valuable, recognised qualification.

Designed for those who are looking to broaden their knowledge and build upon their existing skills to gain a practical qualification that is attractive to employers, this course is flexible and adapted to suit your own pace.

Regardless of how quickly you learn, you are fully supported and guided by friendly, helpful tutors.

You will need access to a computer outside of College during this course, as some home learning will be required.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has multiple start dates throughout the year and can be studied during the day or in the evening.

Ordinarily the course will take up to one year to complete, however you could choose to complete the qualification sooner with more intensive study.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, St Helens College, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

This qualification aims to develop your knowledge of standard IT hardware and develop your skills using Microsoft Office software. You will develop knowledge of different software applications and use them to complete tasks effectively.

For example:

  • Word processing - how to format documents
  • Presentations - creating a presentation
  • Spreadsheets - how to use formulae
  • Database - how to create a database and use queries

This course also provides a thorough introduction for those wishing to go on to more advanced studies and a higher level qualification.

How is it assessed?

The qualification will be achieved by completing an assignment at the end of each unit.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have experience of using a computer in the workplace, or have completed a beginners digital skills in IT course.

Students should also have achieved level 1 English and maths or be working towards gaining a qualification.

What are the course fees?

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Successfully achieving certification in ITQ can open the door to a whole range of employment and career progression opportunities. This qualification is widely recognised by employers and you could choose to progress on to the level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills.
