Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

ITQ is an ideal qualification to improve your career progression, find a new job or to just generally learn how to use today's technology more efficiently. It consists of a cluster of units, covering subjects such as word processing, presentations, spreadsheets and databases.

This programme will be suitable for you if you have completed the ITQ Level 1, ECDL or who are currently working and using IT to a good standard.

You will need access to a computer outside of College during this course, as some home learning will be required.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

This course has multiple start dates throughout the year and can be studied during the day or in the evening.

Ordinarily the course will take up to one year to complete, however you could choose to complete the qualification sooner with more intensive study.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, St Helens College, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

You will cover units such as:

  • Word processing - how to format documents, mail merge, integrated reports
  • Presentations - creating a presentation, using master slides, creating organisation charts
  • Spreadsheets - Linking spreadsheets, using absolute cells, a variety of functions and combined graphs/charts

How is it assessed?

The qualification will be achieved by completing an assignment at the end of each unit and a report for the mandatory unit.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

This programme will be suitable for students who have completed a level 1 ITQ Level 1, ECDL or an equivalent course, or those who are currently working and using IT to a good standard and want to gain a qualification. Students should also have achieved a level 1 or level 2 in English and maths qualification.

Entry onto this programme is dependent on your current IT skills and is subject to an informal interview.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Successfully achieving certification in ITQ can open the door to a whole range of employment and career progression opportunities. The course is also suitable for progression on to a level 3 IT course.
