Computers for Beginners (Know IT)
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
Do you feel that you lack confidence in using a computer? This course is a great place to start, as it will help you to develop basic IT skills, which will support you with your day-to-day activities such as searching for information on the internet and sending/replying to emails.
You will be fully supported and guided by friendly, helpful tutors.
This course can be delivered remotely online, in the classroom or by blended learning. Courses can also be delivered as part of packages, depending on your goals. More information can be provided on enquiry or at enrolment.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
This course has flexible start dates throughout the year.
The flexibility of the course allows you to learn at your own pace and is estimated to take up to 9 hours to complete.
What will I study?
Topics covered include:
- How to use and log in to a college computer
- Use Outlook email account
- Search for information on the internet
- Saving and printing information
- Staying safe online
How is it assessed?
This course can be completed through online learning, classroom based learning, or both (blended learning). Achievement of the course is through completion of a workbook.
Full tutor support will be provided throughout the course and you will be able to contact your tutor via telephone and email.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
No previous qualifications are necessary. This course is suitable for anyone that is looking to progress on to an accredited course.
What are the course fees?
You may be eligible for Community Learning funding if you have not recently participated in a similar Community Learning programme, or received any other recent government-funded training.
There are a number of fee options for this course including:
- If you are unemployed - FREE
- If you are employed - £30
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
This course provides fantastic progression on to the Level 1 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills course, depending on your goals. Your tutor will discuss this with you at the end of your course.
