Level 2 Technical Certificate in Painting and Decorating
This course is for those who want to develop a career within the painting and decorating industry.
You'll learn how to apply paint by brush and roller, apply paper to walls and ceilings, prepare surfaces and how to produce specialist decorative finishes.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.
This course will take place at our STEM Centre Campus, Pocket Nook Street, St Helens, WA9 1TT.
What will I study?
During this course, you will cover the following:
- Applying paint systems by brush and roller
- Applying standard papers to ceilings and walls
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Preparing surfaces for decoration
- Producing specialist decorative finishes
In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.
How is it assessed?
During this course, you'll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You should have successfully completed a level 1 Painting and Decorating qualification or have achieved a grade 4 or above, in English and maths.
What are the course fees?
If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Painting and Decorating to enhance your skills and knowledge.
