University Centre St Helens’ Criminal Justice Webinar Series, brings together leading researchers and authors of recent works with our FdA Criminal Justice students and the wider public to explore fresh, relevant, and impactful theories and work shaping the field today.
Session Two: ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once’ – Virtual Criminal Justice in Europe
Director of Digital Justice Center, University of Wrocław, Poland
Associate Professor European and Comparative Criminal Procedure, Maastricht University, Netherlands
Lecturer in Criminal Justice at University Centre St Helens
For our second session, we are delighted to be in conversation with Dr Karolina Kremens and Dr Christina Peristeridou, co-authors of ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once’: Virtual Criminal Justice in Europe, recently published in the European Journal of Crime, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice.
As courts increasingly rely on video hearings and remote participation, what happens to our understanding of justice, fairness and the courtroom itself? Drawing on comparative research from across Europe, Karolina and Christina examine how digital technologies are transforming criminal proceedings and what this means for defendants, legal professionals and the wider justice system.
Whether you work in criminal justice, study it, or are interested in the impact of technology on legal systems, this session offers a unique opportunity to hear from two researchers shaping the conversation around virtual justice and procedural fairness.
Join us to explore what a fair trial looks like in the digital age.
