STUDENTS WIN BIG AT NORTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS Beauty and Hairdressing students competed in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Northwest Championships in Blackpool, entering a range of categories fromKings and Queens of the Sea, Old HollywoodMakeup to Fashion BlowDry and Bridal. 10 of our talented students are now through to the National Final, with the College scooping second place for the overall ‘Best College in the Northwest'. NHS STAFF INSPIRE HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE STUDENTS Health and Social Care students received an inspiring talk from healthcare professionals fromSt Helens &Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Head of Clinical Education, alongside a teamof experienced Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants and Pharmacists, talked to students about the various roles available within the NHS, sharing their own personal journeys, and the skills required for their job roles. Former student, Leanne, also shared her journey which started at St Helens College, before she then went on to train as a Nurse, and is now a Clinical Educator for St Helens &Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! PLACEMENT BOOSTS EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS Health and Social Care student, Lilly, has completed an incredible placement at Aintree University Hospital as a Healthcare Assistant, as part of her course. Lilly has been working across a variety of wards, from blood and stroke clinics, to the assessment and rehabilitation day unit and the osteoporosis ward. Hospital staff said Lilly is "an excellent addition to the team," and is on track to be nominated for an interview for the nursing bank! Coming soon for September2023!
