CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership

Adult student, Karl, has over 20 years’ experience working in various management roles across a variety of industries, with aspirations to rise through the ranks and progress to higher-level management.

After working in the Middle East as a Facilities Manager, Karl, returned to the UK to reinforce his extensive work experience, with a nationally recognised qualification.

Karl explains, “I’ve always naturally gravitated towards management roles and despite gaining nearly 20 years’ experience by learning on-the-job, I realised that I needed a nationally recognised qualification to support my career progression too.”

Completing the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership whilst working in his current role at Knowsley Council, Karl worked hard to maintain a work, life and study balance. He says, “As a Building Cleaning Project Officer at Knowsley Council, I have been able to link projects, theory and assignments on the course to my day-to-day role. As a result of this, I’ve been able to implement positive changes in my workplace.

Karl highly praises his supportive tutor saying, “My tutor has been amazing throughout the course – so knowledgeable and patient. She is always happy to offer advice and her handouts and reading recommendations have been a great help.”

Another key highlight of the course for Karl was working with other students from the class. “The rest of the group are from lots of diverse backgrounds and industries, which provides a different perspective on the various topics we cover.”

Looking to the future, Karl aims to progress into higher management and hopes this course will be the first step towards achieving this.
