Creative Roots Gallery

Calling all art lovers, our Fine Art Painting degree lecturers, Amy and Wayne, are proud to be exhibiting their incredible artwork at ‘Creative Roots’ Exhibition at the World of Glass, celebrating the extraordinary talents of creatives who have lived, studied or worked in St Helens.

Their work is up on display alongside award-winning artists, famous film producers, and designers from St Helens, including local talent, Johnny Vegas, who is exhibiting his ceramic sculptures under his ceramicist alias, Michael Pennington.

The exhibition, which is part of the St Helens Borough of Culture initiative, is a two-year project funded by the National Lottery Heritage, to celebrate the creative heritage of St Helens.

The town was already known for its innovation and industry, but little was known about the creativity that flows through its roots. The exhibition hopes to showcase this through the work and stories of talented and inspiring individuals from the town and across a number of disciplines, from animation and print to films.

Lecturers, Amy and Wayne, have on display their pieces 'Habitus 1' and ‘Jumper’, which are featured alongside a number of our alumni students who have previously studied with us at University Centre St Helens.

Lecturer, Amy said “It is amazing to see the talent within this borough which has spread across the world. There are some interesting stories of people who have pursued careers in the creative industries. I recommend visiting the exhibition to see the brilliant work on display, some created by alumni of the College and also members of staff who have taught in the Art Department over the years.”

The ‘Creative Roots’ Exhibition is open for public viewing at the St Helens World of Glass until Saturday 9th September 2023, if you would like to go and view their incredible work, it's one not to be missed!
