Working as a Manager within a retail setting, Sammie was looking to enhance her qualifications to complement her experience and decided to embark on the HND Business qualification at University Centre St Helens.
The HND Business qualification allowed Sammie to delve into the realms of business, whilst acquiring knowledge of a breadth of subjects including marketing, business law and leadership, which she could directly relate to her role in the sector.
Sammie describes the HND as "a great course to challenge you, which allows you to take your next steps, whether that is further study or progression at work".
Graduating from the HND in 2017 with a Distinction, Sammie began the next stage of her journey with the BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Top-up), working towards gaining a full honours degree.
The intensive, one-year top-up degree in business builds on the experience and knowledge that a student will have previously acquired, developing their research and critical thinking skills, whilst enabling them to work in a range of positions in the diverse business world of today.
The BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Top-up) has developed Sammie's knowledge tremendously, and she states, "The top-up allowed me to explore a great range of subjects, which led to me discovering my passion for marketing. The modules are designed to challenge you and the dissertation was a real chance to conduct research in areas of interest to us."
Sammie adds, "I would recommend the degree to anyone looking to advance their career. Gaining my degree has opened up so many doors for me that were not available to me previously. Graduating with a 2:1 and securing a position in marketing is entirely due to achieving my business degree.
