Level 1 Award in Basic Makeup Treatments (Adult Course)
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
If you have a love of makeup or are considering a career in makeup artistry, then this course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge to provide makeup treatments.
Working in our commercial beauty salon, you will learn how to carry out a skin analysis of different skin types and tones and prepare the skin for makeup application. The course will cover terminology used by makeup artists and how to use the correct brushes and techniques when applying makeup.
Using a full range of makeup products, you will gain the skills to carry out basic makeup application to achieve both flawless day and glamorous night looks, to complement different bone structures. You will also learn to use consultation techniques to ensure that the client is pleased with the final result.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
This course starts in January and will take 12 weeks to complete. You will attend College on a Wednesday afternoon, from 1.00pm - 3.00pm.
This course will take place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.
What will I study?
During this course you will study units covering:
- Health and safety
- Makeup hygiene
- Skin types
- Face shapes and skin tones
- Structure and function of the skin
- Bone structure of the face
- Brush techniques
- Application of basic day makeup
- Application of evening and glamour makeup
How is it assessed?
You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical observations and portfolio building. You will be fully supported by your tutor with any assessments.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You do not need any formal qualifications, just passion and a commitment to your studies.
What are the course fees?
The cost of this course is £75.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Upon completion of this course, you may choose to progress onto a level 2 qualification to further develop your knowledge and skills.
