Level 3 Diploma in Makeup Artistry (Adult Course)

This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.

Based in our exciting salon, The Lounge, you will unleash your creativity across a range of makeup services such as bridal makeup, airbrushing and eyelash extensions while gaining an understanding of the science behind popular cosmetic products.

Whether working for yourself or as part of a team, it is important to understand how to promote and sell retail products in order to maximise sales, so our tutors will give you the best tips to ensure you are ready to put this into practice.

When will I start the course and how long will it take?

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

What will I study?

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Photographic makeup
  • Promote and sell products and services
  • Anatomy and physiology for makeup services
  • Bridal makeup
  • Airbrush makeup
  • Individual eyelash extensions
  • Cosmetic makeup science
  • False eyelash application
  • Client care and communication
  • Health and safety in the salon

How is it assessed?

You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, end of module exams and portfolio building.

Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?

You should have successfully achieved a level 2 Hair and Media Makeup qualification or equivalent.

What are the course fees?

The course fee is £3,345.

If you are aged 19 or over, you could also choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees enabling you to study now, pay later. Loan eligibility isn't dependent on income or employment status and there is no credit check. Loan repayments don't start until you have finished your course and earn over £25,000 per year. There are also a number of payment options including an interest-free payment plan with a monthly direct debit payment.

What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have many career opportunities to choose from such as working in a salon, employment with a huge multi-national makeup brand, such as MAC, Nars or Bobbi Brown, or you might decide to become a freelance Makeup Artist.

Alternatively, you may choose to expand your knowledge and skill set by progressing on to:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology

Additional Information

As part of this course, you are required to wear a uniform and there is also a kit required to complete your assessments. This can be purchased from a recommended supplier and you may be eligible for financial support to cover these costs.
