Who is the programme for?

You’re a senior procurement professional or head of department.

 The Professional diploma in procurement and supply is targeted at building strategic procurement competence, giving managers the ability to formulate strategic direction and advice, in terms of change management, stakeholder management and team leadership.


When will I start the programme and how long will it take?

The programme starts in September, further entry opportunity in March.

Completion time depends on the mode of attendance, i.e. afternoon or evening, or afternoon or evening only. There are five Exam dates per year with the modules tied into the exam dates, with two modules starting in September in the afternoon and evening. Exams set by CIPS will be held in November, January, March, May and July.

The timetable is designed with student flexibility in mind, allowing the student to complete the level on an afternoon or evening basis in one year.


What will I study?

There are six modules at this Level of study which you have to complete 3 Core modules and 2 of the three optional modules:

  • Leadership in Procurement and Supply (Core Unit)
  • Corporate Business Strategy (Core Unit)
  • Strategic Supply Chain Management  (Core Unit)
  • Supply Chain Diligence  (Optional Unit)
  • Programme & Project Management (Optional Unit)
  • Legal Aspects in Procurement and Supply (Optional Unit)

How is the programme assessed?

(3 Hours Exam). Pass mark 50%. 4 question based on the learning outcomes set by CIPS 25% per question, some of the questions will be sub-divided.

Candidates must enrol for examinations directly with the CIPS and pay the CIPS examination fee. Progression to the next Level is dependent on examination success.


What do I need to enter the programme?

To enter the programme you should possess a minimum of: -

  • A CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply
  • A CIPS Level 5

Future prospects:

On Completion of Level 6 and as a purchasing professional with 3 years of Purchasing & Supply chain experience you will gain MCIPS accreditation.
