Water Regulations and Byelaws
This course is suitable for students aged 19 and over.
This course is aimed at individuals looking to become approved plumbers/contractors, who wish to develop their skills and knowledge of water regulations and byelaws.
Successful candidates are encouraged to join an approved plumbers/contractors scheme, such as those managed by SNIPEF, APHC, CIPHE, WIAPS, and the regional water utility companies. This enables them to issue a certificate of completion to both the householder and water company.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course has various start dates throughout the year and will take one day to complete.
The course takes place at St Helens College's Green Energy Skills Centre, St Helens, WA9 1AR.
What will I study?
Topics covered include:
- Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 (England & Wales)
- Water Supply (Water Fittings) (Scotland) Byelaws 2014
- Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 It meets the requirements of WRAS (the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) of which the majority of the UK water companies are members.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
Trainees will need to have some knowledge of plumbing and the water industry.
What are the course fees?
The total cost of this course is £100.
What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
Certification of this course will go towards some of the entry requirements of meeting the criteria to join a competent person scheme e.g. (APHC), where a recognised plumbing qualification may be needed.
