Level 1 Diploma in Plastering
This course provides an excellent introduction to the world of plastering within the construction industry.
You'll explore a range of building methods and construction technology, developing skills in wet plastering and dry lining. You'll learn how to prepare surfaces, mix plaster materials and apply and set plaster coats.
Our previous student, Connor, completed this course which then helped him to secure a Plastering Apprenticeship with Evolve Facility Services.
When will I start the course and how long will it take?
The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.
This course will take place at our STEM Centre Campus, Pocket Nook Street, St Helens, WA9 1TT.
What will I study?
During this course, you will cover the following:
- Applying plaster materials to internal backgrounds
- Forming sand and cement screeds
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Preparing background surfaces and plaster materials
In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.
How is it assessed?
During this course, you'll be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.
Do I need any previous qualifications to start this course?
You should have GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths.
Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.
What are the course fees?
If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2024), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. What can I go on to do once I have completed this course?
This course is the first step towards launching a career as a successful Plasterer.
You could progress on to the level 2 Technical in Plastering to enhance your skills and knowledge or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship with an employer and earn whilst you learn.
