Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties

Around 15% of people have a learning difficulty, which means they can find it harder to learn certain skills. If you’re looking to improve your understanding and awareness of learning difficulties, this is the course for you.

You will learn about a range of specific learning difficulties, including ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. It’s great for people working in a variety of sectors, such as healthcare, social care and education.

>This hybrid learning course has flexible start dates throughout the year and can take up to 26 weeks to complete. However, the flexibility of the course allows you to learn at your own pace.

You will gain the knowledge and understanding of a range of learning difficulties.

Units covered include:

  • The characteristics of ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia
  • How specific learning difficulties can affect children and adults in different ways
  • The importance of early diagnosis
  • The various assessment methods available to diagnose specific learning difficulties
  • How individuals can be supported to gain, start, and continue with study and employment

The course is completed through an online platform and assessed through a series of online assessments.

Full tutor support will be provided throughout the course and you will be able to contact your tutor via telephone, email, Microsoft Teams and face-to-face drop in sessions at our St Helens Town Centre Campus.

On completion you will receive a nationally recognised qualification, awarded by NCFE.

No previous qualifications are necessary. However, as this course is completed through an online platform, access to a computer or laptop is recommended and some basic computer skills are required.

Students also have access to our campus libraries including quiet study spaces and computer suites.

Course fees are dependent on your personal circumstances and you may be eligible for funding. Our hybrid learning courses may be free to UK residents who live in the Liverpool or Greater Manchester City Region. Those who live in devolved combined authorities outside Liverpool and Greater Manchester will not be eligible for course funding.

The College will carry out a simple funding assessment to check eligibility.

Please note, any learner who has received funding for the course and does not successfully complete will be liable to pay for the course fees.
