I’ve worked in the construction industry for over 17 years, and I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my students. Most importantly, working in education allows me to spend more time with my family and watch my son grow up, which was a huge selling point for me. The pension is great too! Since being here, I’ve had the opportunity to progress from an Electrical Installation Lecturer to a Deputy Head of School, and I enjoy the new challenge it brings.
I started my journey as a Business Administration Apprentice, providing administrative support to the College’s Senior Leadership Team. I’d never worked in an office environment before, so I believed an apprenticeship was the best way for me to gain this experience, whilst developing new skills on-the-job. The College have been great at supporting my development and offered me a full-time position as PA to Principalship, once I’d completed my apprenticeship.
The wellbeing of our staff is important to us, which is why we run a number of initiatives across College, from mental health and wellbeing sessions on CPD day and our annual Wellbeing Day, to access to a 24/7 counselling service and free lunchtime yoga sessions.
We are passionate about promoting equality for all and celebrate our diverse community.
In line with our College core values of trust, care and respect, we want all of our staff to feel valued, confident and respected at work, where they can achieve their full potential with access to training, career development, promotion, and reward.
