This course is designed to help you develop the essential skills needed to progress onto Level 3. You’ll strengthen your academic writing, get hands-on with basic 3D modelling, explore both digital and traditional art techniques, and dive into the fundamentals of game theory. Whether you’re aiming for a creative career or further study, this course sets you up with the tools to succeed.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

Throughout this exciting course, you will:

  • Learn 3D modelling using 3Ds Max (box modelling)
  • Create concept art and textures using Photoshop
  • Develop 3D and 2D art skills
  • Work in teams to design and produce a fully playable board or card game
  • Creating artwork and packaging
  • Producing 3D-printed game pieces
  • Reflect on personal development
  • Plan for future study or career paths

You will be internally assessed combined with practical tasks, project briefs, written reflections and presentations.

You should have 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and/or maths.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2026), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress on to the Level 3 Games.
