This course is designed for those who want to pursue a career within plumbing and heating.

You will explore everything from plumbing installations to gaining an understanding of low-carbon technology and renewable energy.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our Green Energy Skills Centre, Langtree Street, St Helens, WA9 1AR.

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Health and safety and industry practices
  • Plumbing processes
  • Electric and scientific principles
  • Cold water
  • Hot water
  • Central heating
  • Sanitation and drainage
During this course, you’ll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.

You should have three GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and/or maths, and a relevant level 1 qualification.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2026), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing to enhance your skills and knowledge. You could also progress on to the T Level in Building Services Engineering for Construction Electrotechnical Engineering) or the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation.
