Self Disclosure of Criminal Convictions

St Helens College and Knowsley Community College are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people and vulnerable adults and expects everyone who uses its buildings and services to share this commitment.

PLEASE READ THESE NOTES BEFORE COMPLETING THE SELF-DECLARATION FORM

If you have indicated that you have a conviction, you MUST complete the Self-Declaration Form.

It is the policy of the College to ask all applicants who are enrolling at the College to complete a self-declaration form.

Any failure to disclose convictions could result in you being excluded from the College.

Any information you provide will be treated as strictly confidential and shared only with your Personal Tutor (if appropriate). If we are asked to share this with any external agencies, we will inform you of the request and seek your permission to share this.

Disclosure of a conviction or caution does not mean that you may not be enrolled at the College; a person’s suitability will be looked at as a whole in the light of all the information available – a main consideration will be whether the offence is one which would make a person unsuitable to study in college environments which provide the opportunity for access to young people or vulnerable adults.

WHO WILL READ THE SELF-DECLARATION FORM?

The Self-Declaration form will be passed to a Criminal Checking Team Officer (CCTO), who will discuss the nature of the offence with you.
