Level 2 Site Carpentry

This course provides the opportunity to gain valuable work experience alongside your course.

You will study flooring and roofing, frames, partitions and stairs as well as carpentry maintenance.

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete.

This course will take place at our STEM Centre Campus, Pocket Nook Street, St Helens, WA9 1TT.

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Carrying out first fixing operations
  • Carrying out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work
  • Carrying out second fixing operations
  • Carrying out structural carcassing operations
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Preparing and using carpentry and joinery portable power tools
  • Understanding construction technology
  • Understanding information, quantities and communication with others

In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to gain some work experience within the construction industry.

During this course, you’ll be assessed through an end of year exam and practical synoptic exercise.

You should have 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and/or maths, and a relevant level 1 qualification.

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2026), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation. Upon successful completion of this course, you could enhance your skills and knowledge by undertaking the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Site Carpentry.
