Level 3 Award in Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems

This qualification is designed for qualified electricians to be able to install and maintain small solar photovoltaic systems. By completing this qualification, electricians can enhance their expertise in solar photovoltaic infrastructure, with the aim of ensuring safe and efficient installations.

The course has various start dates throughout the year and will take 5 days to complete.

The course takes place at our STEM Centre, Technology Campus, St Helens, WA9 1TT.

Topics covered include:

  • Key documentation and legislation in relation to design and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV)
  • Safety features of solar PV electrical systems
  • Characteristics of solar PV systems, components and architectures
  • Design and installation considerations solar PV systems
  • Elements of testing, commission and handover solar PV systems
  • Understanding of the use of micro-generation and EESS as part of prosumer’s electrical installations

You will be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.

You should have one of the below qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures, and the Environment)
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification

The total cost of this course is £600.

On successful completion of this course, you will have developed the knowledge and competencies to install and maintain small solar photovoltaic systems.

Completing this course can lead directly into employment opportunities in the growing green technologies market within the solar sector, offering learners the chance to develop supplementary skills and knowledge to a high standard recognised by the industry.
