The Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations is designed for practising electricians and allied professionals who need to develop or update their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

This qualification is ideal for electricians, surveyors, consultants, and other tradespeople whose work involves electrical installations. Through the course, learners will develop their knowledge of the requirements of the current IET Wiring Regulations and gain a greater understanding of how they are applied in practice.

Whether you are looking to update your existing qualification, support your professional development, or demonstrate your understanding of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, this course provides the knowledge and confidence needed to work in line with current industry requirements.

The course has various start dates throughout the year and will take 3 days to complete.

This course will take place at our STEM Centre Campus, Pocket Nook Street, St Helens, WA9 1TT.

Topics covered include:

  • The scope, purpose and fundamental principles of BS 7671
  • Key definitions and terminology used within BS 7671
  • Assessing the general characteristics of electrical installations
  • The requirements of protection for safety for electrical installations
  • The requirements for selection and erection of equipment for electrical installations
  • The requirements of inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • The requirements of special installations or locations as identified in BS 7671
  • The information contained within Part 8 and the appendices of BS 7671

You will be assessed through an online multiple-choice test and assessment.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners are expected to have a basic knowledge of electrical science to successfully achieve the qualification.

Learners must not be entered for a qualification of the same type, content and level as that of a qualification they already hold.

The total cost of this course is £500. This is a full cost course meaning that there are no fee discounts available.

On successful completion of this course, learners can progress to further electrical qualifications.

The qualification also provides evidence of current knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), supporting ongoing professional development.
