Q: Entry Requirements

You should have the following: Level 23 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English and/or maths. Level 34 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and/or maths. This Academy is currently offered exclusively to males, aged 16-18. While previous experience in rugby is beneficial, it is not essential for joining the course. A good level of physical fitness is required. Achieving a good standard of English and maths is a key requirement for many jobs, as well as for courses you may wish to progress on to. If you achieve below a grade 4 in your English and/or maths GCSEs at school, you will study it alongside your chosen course when you join us.

Train like a professional rugby league player with St Helens College and Saints Community Development Foundation whilst also gaining a level 2 or level 3 sport qualification that can help your rugby career take off or lead you to university, an apprenticeship or employment!

Start Date and Duration

Level 2

The course will start in September, and will take one year to complete.

Level 3

The course will start in September, and will take two years to complete.

These course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP and Ruskin Drive Sports Facilities.

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed through a combination of practical observations, written and oral questions, assignment work, short tests, work experience and work books.

Course Cost

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2025), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.
