Student Successes

Thinking about progressing your career in Early Years or education? Amy did – and it’s already making a difference.

Amy works full time as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant in a SEN school with Year 5 and 6 pupils. Wanting to move toward her long term goal of becoming a teacher, she chose the FdA Early Years Practice at University Centre St Helens after strong recommendations from friends.

The evening classes mean she can continue working while studying, and she’s found the experience extremely positive. The smaller class sizes and dedicated tutor support have boosted her confidence at work and given her clarity about her career path.

Meet Claire, one of our dedicated BA (Hons) Early Years Practice students at University Centre St Helens!

Claire currently works as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, supporting children aged 4–5. Wanting to progress in her career and grow her knowledge, she made the exciting decision to return to education and study with us – with hopes of one day pursuing a career in speech and language therapy.

The course came highly recommended by a colleague, and with evening classes available, it was the perfect fit for Claire as a busy mum balancing work, home life and study.

She says the staff have been incredibly supportive, the delivery of lessons is clear and easy to follow, and her classmates are lovely. Since starting the course, Claire has grown massively in confidence and even made new friends – something she admits can feel more challenging as you get older.

For anyone thinking about returning to education, Claire has one message:

Do it. It felt daunting at first, but I absolutely love it and would 100% recommend the course to anyone.
