More information

This course will start on Wednesday 14th April 2027 and take five weeks to complete. You will attend college on a Wednesday, from 9.30am – 12.30pm.

The course takes place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

You will start by exploring what marketing is and why it’s important, building a foundation for understanding how brands connect with audiences.

The focus then moves to customers, targeting and market research, helping learners identify who they are trying to reach and what those customers value. This develops into branding, messaging and content creation, giving learners the tools to create simple, engaging content.

Finally, the course introduces key marketing channels and tools, from social media to email and websites, showing how each one supports different goals, bringing everything together through campaign planning and analytics, where learners design a small campaign and learn how to measure what works. The result is a confident, practical understanding of marketing that learners can apply immediately.

The course is assessed through practical marketing tasks completed each week, with tutors using informal observation to check understanding and engagement.

Learners will also complete brief reflective activities, and the course ends with a simple mini marketing campaign plan that brings their skills together in a supportive, non exam format.

The course is designed to be beginner friendly, so there are no formal entry requirements. Learners simply need an interest in understanding how marketing works and a willingness to take part in practical activities each week.

The total cost of this course is £75. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

Upon completing the course, learners can progress onto a range of next steps depending on their goals and apply their new knowledge directly by supporting a small business, freelancing in basic marketing tasks, or promoting their own products or services.

The course provides a strong foundation for anyone wanting to move into further study, self employment, or entry level marketing roles.
