We recently welcomed staff and students from Max Eyth Schule in Stuttgart as part of their annual visit to our Engineering department. This exchange gives Max Eyth Schule students the chance to take part in lessons delivered in English. One student explained:

“We have English lessons back in Germany, but these lessons are really beneficial as we can fully immerse ourselves in an English lesson in England.”

During their stay, the students participated in both theory and practical sessions with our Automotive and Engineering teams. They also enjoyed a tour of St Helens and the Liverpool City Region, visiting landmarks such as Glass Futures, World of Glass, Pilkington, and even taking part in a Mersey Tunnel Tour.

The close relationship between St Helens and Stuttgart dates back to 1948 when the two towns were twinned.

Andrew Moran, our Deputy Head of Engineering, said:

“These visits are a fantastic way of linking together, sharing skills and knowledge, as well as strengthening our partnership.”

The visit concluded with a presentation from our teaching staff to Max Eyth Schule teachers Herman and Benjamin, featuring a taste of local tradition: a famous St Helens Pimbletts Pie served with HP Sauce.
