Are you looking to explore a new hobby or take your first step towards a career in floristry? This course provides an introduction to the floristry industry, along with the skills and techniques needed to create a variety of floral designs.

Throughout the course, you will gain hands-on experience working with flowers and foliage, learning practical techniques used within the industry. You may have the opportunity to create floral arrangements for gifts, weddings, funerals, and seasonal occasions such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, and Valentine’s Day in our on-site Flower Studio.

Ideal for beginners, this course will help you develop your confidence, creativity, and understanding of the floristry profession while exploring progression opportunities into further study or employment.

This course has start dates in September and January and will take 18 weeks to complete.

  • 7th September 2026
  • 25th January 2027

You will attend College on a Monday, 9.30am – 4.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

Units covered include:

  • Explore craft resources 
  • Explore craft ideas
  • Create, present and review final floristry item 

Assessment is through the production of a portfolio of evidence of work completed throughout the course and an assessment task, set by the floristry tutor.

No previous qualifications are required to complete this course. However, you should have a keen interest in floristry.

The total cost of this course is £450. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

On successful completion of this course, learners can progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Floristry (NCFE), to further develop floristry skills, creativity, and industry knowledge.
