Level 1 Certificate in Plastering

This course provides an excellent introduction to the world of plastering within the construction industry.

You’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, mix plaster materials and apply and set plaster coats and develop skills in rendering, beading, skimming and plaster finishes.

More information

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College one evening per week, from 6.00pm – 9.00pm.

The course takes place at our STEM Centre, Technology Campus, St Helens WA9 1TT.

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction
  • Introduction to the Construction Industry
  • Preparing background surfaces and applying render coats
  • Preparing background surfaces and applying finishing coats
  • Mixing materials and applying floating coats

During this course, you’ll be assessed by a range of practical observations and an end of unit theory test.

You do not need any formal qualifications, just passion and a commitment to your studies.

The course fee is £362. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

This course is the first step towards launching a career as a successful Plasterer. You could progress on to Level 2 Plastering to enhance your skills and knowledge or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship to gain on-the-job skills and experience.
