This course is the first step towards a career as a successful Electrician.

You will learn basic electrical skills, both practical and theory based, as well as gaining a strong understanding of lighting circuits and sockets.

More information

The course will start in September and will take one year to complete. You will attend College one evening per week, from 6.00pm – 9.00pm.

The course takes place at St Helens College, STEM Centre Campus, St Helens WA9 1TT.

During this course, you will cover the following:

  • Health and safety
  • Scientific principles of electricity
  • Conduit and trunking
  • Installation methods
  • Electrical components and fittings
During this course, you’ll be assessed by a range of practical and online assessments.
You should have GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths.
The course fee is £1,248. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.
This course is the first step towards becoming a successful Electrician. You could progress on to a level 2 course to enhance your skills and knowledge or alternatively, you could secure an apprenticeship to gain on-the-job skills and experience.
