Based in our very own commercial flower shop, The Flower Studio, you will create floral designs, arrangements and hand tied bouquets for wedding, funerals and other large events.

You will also have the opportunity to complete valuable work experience, giving you first-hand insight of working in a fast-paced and exciting industry.

The course has start dates in September and January, and will take 18 weeks to complete. You will attend college on a Monday and Thursday, 9.30am – 4.30pm.

This course will take place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Introduction to art and design
  • Identifying, checking and monitoring the quality of incoming cut materials
  • Identifying and maintaining the condition of plants and planted designs
  • Planning, preparing and constructing tied floristry designs
  • Planning, preparing and constructing funeral designs
  • Planning, preparing and constructing arrangements
  • Planning, preparing and constructing wedding designs with floral material
  • Displaying of floristry goods
  • Introduction to working in the industry
  • Introduction to function decorating using floral displays

In addition to the above units, you will also cover:

  • Functional skills in maths and English (dependent on grade)
  • Personal tutor and career education sessions
  • Employability and enterprise sessions
  • Work-related experience
  • Enrichment opportunities

You will be assessed by assignments and an online multiple choice exam.

You must also complete the mandatory employer involvement requirement before successfully achieving this qualification.

You should have at least four GCSEs at grade 4 (equivalent to grade C) or above in English and maths.

This is a professional floristry qualification and applicants must be prepared to undertake 150 hours industry experience as part of this qualification.

The total cost of this course is £1,155. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

Once you have successfully completed this qualification you could go on to study the level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Floristry.
