Step into leadership with confidence. Our Team Leading Skills course is designed for anyone ready to take the next step in their career, build stronger workplace relationships, and develop the skills needed to lead effectively.

Whether you’re already supporting others at work or exploring leadership for the first time, this practical, confidence-building programme will introduce you to the key behaviours, skills, and mindset of successful team leaders. Guided by an experienced entrepreneur with real-world leadership expertise, you’ll explore essential topics such as communication, motivating others, problem-solving, teamwork, and professional conduct.

Through hands-on activities, workplace-inspired scenarios, and supportive coaching, you’ll gain a better understanding of your own strengths, build your confidence, and develop the skills employers value across a wide range of sectors. Whether you’re aiming for promotion, returning to work, or considering a new career path, this course will give you the knowledge, practical tools, and motivation to take your next step with confidence.

This course will start on Wednesday 11th November 2027 and take five weeks to complete. You will attend college on a Wednesday, from 9.30am – 12.30pm.

The course takes place at our Town Centre Campus, Water Street, St Helens, WA10 1PP.

You will explore the essential knowledge, behaviours, and practical tools that new or aspiring team leaders need to succeed.

The content is structured to build confidence, communication, and real world leadership capability through looking at the role of a team leader and how to delegate, motivate and manage team dynamics.

The course is assessed through practical, confidence building activities focusing on demonstrating real leadership behaviours in a supportive environment.

The course is designed to be beginner friendly, so there are no formal entry requirements. Learners simply need an interest in leadership and a willingness to take part in practical activities each week.

The total cost of this course is £75. You may be eligible for funding depending on your personal circumstances and subject to a fee assessment during the enrolment process. For further details, please visit our financial support pages.

Completing this introductory course opens the door to a wide range of further training and career building pathways. Learners gain the confidence, behaviours, and foundation knowledge needed to move into more formal leadership development.
