The annual BA2 Fine Art Exhibition, now in its 15th year, provided a unique opportunity for our BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting students to showcase the amazing work they have created throughout the year.

Course tutor Steve Strode said:

“The show demonstrated their ability and professionalism, while exploring a wealth of thematic and conceptual concerns. It also afforded us an intimate look into the creators’ inner worlds. As always I found it a privilege to be invited to see beyond the usual and to witness the painters’ expression of it.”

The third floor of our SmithKline Beecham Building was transformed into a gallery to enable the students to display their exhibits. The artwork covered a wide spectrum of disciplines and themes including Jean’s self-portrait drawings, which explored vulnerability, illness and the body as both fragile and resilient and Rianna’s artwork, which centred on the landscape and its reflections on water, using space to explore distance and emotional atmosphere.

The exhibition was launched with a private viewing for students’ families and friends before being opened to members of the public and college staff. College English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students teamed up with local establishment Café Laziz to provide a special culinary treat by offering an amazing selection of food for guests.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who came along to the exhibition and helped make it a huge success. We cannot wait to see what our amazing students go on to achieve.
